Albany 是微软正在开发之中的一个套件产品的代码名称，其正式版会冠以何名还未可知。由于其中包含办公套件以及在线服务，所以之前一直被认为是 在线版Office。其实，Albany并不是那么简单，在我看来，它其实就是一波微软软件的一个合集，是一个基本可以满足普通用户的日常需求的一个软件 包。

上图是第一幅安装界面，除了大大的Albany字样，没有什么特别的。

看上图，其实安装界面很酷的。清新、淡雅，下面有倒影，看着像是Windows Live风格吧？下面为了让各位看清楚点，我仅仅截取中间部分展示。

安装时可以创建Albany账号（左侧），右侧是已经具有了账号的登录，首次，应该选择创建。

产品Key是必须的……Albany中包含很多收费软件，所以，这个套件需要序列号。

Windows Live相关设置，与安装Winodws Live套件一样。

这是最后，我碰到的唯一一个问题，Windows Live Toolbar不能安装，重启后会继续尝试，依然不能安装。可能与我之前安装过中文版Toolbar有关，或许是一个Bug，我已经提交。
下面看看安装后，开始菜单中出现了什么新变化，如下图。除了DAEMON Tools外，其他各项高亮程序都是新安装的。另外，没有高亮的Office Live Add-in也是套件之一。

我们看看Albany中到底包含那些组建，如上图所示，Albany包含七个部分：

Albany主界面如下，很简单，鼠标在各图标上悬停时会放大，点击会出现更大尺寸的介绍和启动窗口，下面一一介绍。
1、[url=http://onecare.live.com/site/en-us/default.htm][color=#0000ff]Windows Live OneCare[/color][/url]：这是微软自己开发的安全及系统维护套件，具有防火墙及查杀病毒的功能，以及简单的系统备份和维护功能，目前最新版本为2.5 Beta。OneCare是付费软件，用户通过订阅方式付款，你也可以参与其测试，从而获取免费试用。

3、[url=http://workspace.officelive.com/][color=#0000ff]Office Live Workspace[/color][/url]： 之前我一直以为这是微软的在线Office服务，经过试用才发现，与其说是在线Office，不如说它仅仅是在线Office文档的存储服务。你要完全使 用它，必须配合桌面Office软件，因为，文档的编辑必须借助桌面软件，不能在线编辑，只能在线储存和共享。在线和离线是通过一个称为Office Add-In的Office插件实现连接的，安装后它会出现在Office的菜单中。

4、Windows Live Messenger：这个不用说了，Windows Live套件之一，实时通讯工具，相信看这篇文章的人，使用它的也不在少数。

5、Windows Live Mail：同上，Windows Live套件之一，很不错的邮件客户端，我一直在用。收取Windows Live Hotmail以及其他邮件服务商的邮件都很合用，尤其是微软自己的服务，那更是再合适不过了。

6、Windows Live Photo Gallery：也是Windows Live套件之一，一个看图工具，且具有简单的管理功能。Vista中已经整合了这个工具，不过没有Live套件中的这个强悍，非常合用。

7、Help & Support：帮助和支持工具，是在线程序，可以管理产品订阅、获取帮助和支持。目前网站还在建设中，不能使用。

可见，Albany并非是什么新产品，它仅仅是现有产品的一次组合打包，可以看作为一个功能丰富的大型软件包。
Albany针对的用户群是谁呢？我认为其中集成的Office 2007 Home and Student应该可以说明问题，即针对家庭和教育用户，一般来说，它们并不需要多么复杂的功能。在线/离线办公套件、在线交流、网络安全、信件往来、照 片浏览管理，想想看，作为普通用户日常使用的功能是不是都包含其中了？
目前，Albany尚处于Beta测试阶段，只要没有冲突，软件上应该都没有什么大问题，毕竟都是较为成熟的产品了。如果有变化的话，应该就是集成产品的种类和数量可能在正式版发布时有所变更。
