3D Secure Program Changes ---啥意思

3D Secure Program Changes ---啥意思

请问:这封plimus的邮件是啥意思?

3D Secure Program Changes
Dear ABCSoft -
In the last week we implemented 3D Secure to put Verified by Visa and Mastercard SecureCode in place. This important solution protects customers against identity theft, and insulates Vendors from unwarranted refunds and chargebacks.

Based on our internal analysis, and detailed feedback from the vendor community, the 3D Secure program is being changed slightly. 3D Secure is now an optional service for Plimus vendor accounts with low historical chargeback rates. Plimus will activate it as needed based on the profile of particular transactions, and on the historical chargeback ratio for each vendor account.

Vendors with low historical chargeback rates can still leverage the benefits of 3D Secureby simply emailing us at vendors@plimus.com.

We'd also like to answer some of the very specific questions we've heard from you about how this program works in practice. In particular:

What proportion of shoppers are eligible for 3D Secure
What if an unenrolled shopper doesn't want to enroll
What happens if an enrolled shopper can't authenticate
How can I see sales that were not authenticated through 3D Secure
What are the details on opting in
We want to thank everyone who has passed along their comments and thoughts on this program. Please keep the communication coming, and let us know how we can continue to develop our service to meet your needs.

Happy, and Successful, Selling!

What proportion of shoppers are eligible for 3D Secure
Although the credit card companies told us they had reached critical mass, we retained a healthy skepticism. We were pleasantly surprised to find that over half of all Mastercard and Visa credit cards are eligible to participate in 3D Secure. This does, indeed, validate the belief that critical mass has been attained by the program.

It also turns out that nearly half of the eligible cardholders are active users: fully enrolled members who have successfully used their VbV or MSC credentials to validate their purchases.

Most of the unenrolled eligible cardholders actively opt not to join the program: when they see the enrollment screen, they click 'Cancel' and continue their purchase without using 3D Secure. When they buy from a Plimus vendor with 3D Secure enabled, they simply drop back into the standard Plimus checkout process, and do not experience any impediment to making their purchase.

What if an unenrolled shopper doesn't want to enroll
Cardholders whose issuing bank offers 3D Secure are not required to enroll (yet!). However, opting out is not without its ramifications.

Cardholders who actively choose not to enroll in 3D Secure can still make purchases online as they normally would. However, as soon as they make even a single chargeback due to not recognizing a charge, or a belief their credit card was stolen,. they will be required to enroll. This protects vendors from "Friendly Fraud", or customers who use the chargeback mechanism as an 'easy' way to self-serve refunds!

What happens if an enrolled shopper can't authenticate
When buying from a 3D Secure-enabled Plimus vendor, enrolled shoppers get three attempts to authenticate using their personal password. If they are unable to do so, the sale is conditionally accepted, and is moved to the Manual Review queue. Plimus will then contact the cardholder to verify that they intended to make this purchase.

Put another way, the sale closes - but is put on hold, just as it would be if the information provided by the customer triggered any other Fraud mechanism. Once the cardholder is enrolled, it of course would make no sense for any online merchant to accept a transaction with the wrong password. Plimus, however, goes the extra step of manually contacting them to see whether it's simply a case of a forgotten password, rather than actual fraud at work.

How can I see sales that were not authenticated through 3D Secure
When a sale cannot be closed due to a failed 3D Secure authentication, it is moved to the Manual Review queue. You will be able to find it in your 'Unclosed Sales' report, and have the option to contact the shopper directly.

Remember, because of the location of 3D Secure in the checkout process (i.e. after the shopper has provided both personal and financial information), you have all the information you need to contact them directly.

What are the details on opting in
If your account has a low chargeback ratio (below 0.6% or so), 3D Secure will not be automatically enabled.

If you would like to take advantage of the added vendor and customer security protections by enabling 3D Secure, simply email us at vendors@plimus.com.
